Applications :

The transesterification reaction of oils in the presence of methanol to produce biodiesel results in the creation of a co-product: glycerine. Glycerine is a biosourced raw material, and has many applications in industry and energy.

Glycerine in a few words:

It represents about 10% by mass of the transesterification result. For 1T of pre-treated waste oil, 100kg of glycerine will be produced.

The reaction is as follows: waste oils or vegetable oils or animal fats) + methanol = glycerol + methyl ester
